Pheasant Point Firearms is off to a smart start by getting the paperwork right first. Hunters, sport shooters, and collectors are loyal customers who value a knowledgeable seller, and a well-stocked case invites long, friendly conversations. Since your goals are to protect your personal assets, limit exposure from sales, clients, employees, or debt and look more credible to customers and banks, the LLC sits at the center of this plan. Here is what we will cover: how to structure Pheasant Point Firearms, the tax IDs it needs, and the licenses that let you open in Riverton, then a quick recap.

Selling firearms is one of the most regulated retail businesses there is, so go slowly and stay inside the law. A federal firearms license is generally required to engage in the business of selling, and online sales usually have to ship to a licensed dealer near the buyer rather than to a customer's door. Face-to-face transfers have their own requirements, including background checks, and Utah adds its own rules. Without that license, a pretty website could be a problem. If you proceed lawfully, an LLC in Riverton protects your personal assets and shows credibility, but it does not shield you from violations, so get legal advice on licensing before you buy your first inventory. What Pheasant Point Firearms needs LLC (limited liability company) – Forming an LLC puts a legal wall between the business and your personal assets. A customer claims a firearm was defective and sues the dealer, so an LLC is a key shield between that claim and your family home. Once profits grow, an LLC can elect S corporation tax treatment, which can lower self-employment tax; ask a tax adviser when the numbers justify it.DBA (doing business as) registration – If you operate as a sole proprietor, or under a name different from your LLC's exact legal name, registering "Pheasant Point Firearms" lets you use it on signs, invoices, and your business bank account.EIN (federal tax ID number) – The federal tax ID number (EIN) identifies the business for taxes. You need it for an LLC, a business bank account, wholesale suppliers, and your first hire.Utah sales tax permit (seller's permit) – You will be selling taxable goods, so register to collect sales tax before your first sale. It also lets you buy inventory for resale without paying tax on it.Business license – Governments license businesses so they can collect a modest tax, usually based on gross receipts or a flat yearly amount, and keep inspectors checking safety: exits, fire extinguishers, and how many people a space can hold. Plan on one for Pheasant Point Firearms in Riverton. Home-based businesses often need a home occupation permit as well, which can limit customer visits, employees, and how much inventory you keep at home.Federal firearms dealer license – Selling firearms as a business generally requires a federal dealer license, and states may add their own. Background check procedures – Dealers must run required checks and keep detailed records of every transfer.

Selling firearms is legal only with the required federal and state licenses, and every sale must follow background check and recordkeeping rules.

By the numbers: Banks, insurers, and tax forms will ask for your industry code. For a firearms retailer it is NAICS 451110 (Sporting Goods Stores), 459110 under the 2022 update. That makes 7 items on your list.

I need advice on business insurance, finding investors, a website and advertising for my record label. Does the LLC service include the state fee and an operating agreement?
10/14/2026 5:04 AM

For a record label, an LLC is the right base. You handle artists' contracts, royalties and releases, and the LLC separates any dispute from your personal assets. The state's filing charge is shown apart from our service fee on the order page, and the operating agreement is prepared with your LLC, so your bank can open the account.

• Insurance: ask an insurance agent about general liability and media liability for a label, plus coverage for equipment.
• Investors: they usually want a formed LLC, an operating agreement and clean books first, then a clear plan for how their money is used.
• Website and advertising: register the name and open the bank account before you spend on promotion.

A surety bond is not what you need. Insurance protects you from claims, while bonds guarantee performance in certain regulated trades.

Do I need an LLC and a tax ID if my items are not taxable in my state? I also need to register a business at an address in Georgia.
10/14/2026 5:04 AM

Yes, an LLC still makes sense even when your products are not taxable. Taxability is only about sales tax, while the LLC is about protecting your personal assets from product and customer claims, and about credibility. With investors in mind, a formal company is what they will want to see.

On the tax ID, you still need an EIN for banking and federal taxes, since that is separate from sales tax. A seller's permit may not be needed if everything you sell is exempt, but many suppliers and marketplaces still ask for one, so check with them. Health and beauty products can be taxable in other places, so check where you sell.

For the Georgia address, I cannot supply an office location. Register the business at the real place where you operate, or use a registered agent's address for state papers. A local business license depends on that location.

I live in New York and want to start a mobile petting zoo. I also want to sell gift baskets by taking the order and having a company ship it. What do I need, and can I charge sales tax?
10/14/2026 5:04 AM

A mobile petting zoo carries real risk, since children and animals mix and a bite or a fall could lead to a claim. An LLC is the proper vehicle, because it separates that exposure from your personal assets, and it can bring in investors. A foreign owner is fine for an LLC.

• Petting zoo: animal exhibits are regulated, so expect animal health paperwork, permits for events, and liability insurance that venues will ask for.
• Business license, locally, plus approvals for each event location.
• EIN, for banking and taxes.

For the gift baskets, to charge sales tax you need a seller's permit, which in New York is registered as a certificate of authority. Even if you never touch the product or the money, if you take the order and your company is the seller, you generally must be registered to collect tax. If the other company is the seller of record, it may handle that, so clarify who sells.

How long does it take to get a reseller's permit in New York with expedited service? I do not have a certificate of authority for my LLC. I also have questions about zoning for a home inspection business.
10/14/2026 5:04 AM

In New York, the sales tax registration is called a certificate of authority, and a reseller's permit is built on it, so you do need one for your LLC. We can file it with expedited handling, which moves faster than standard processing, but I cannot promise a specific number of days because timing depends on the application.

Home inspection is a service, so the permit matters mainly if you also sell products or tools that are taxable. Your LLC fits the business well: inspectors face claims when something is missed, and the LLC separates those from your personal assets.

• Zoning: a home office is usually allowed, but you do not need a vote from the town council in most cases. Ask locally whether a home occupation approval applies.
• Professional license: home inspectors are licensed in many places, so confirm before you take clients.

File the certificate of authority well before your first sale, since New York asks that you register in advance.

What license do I need to buy seafood in Louisiana, transport it to Tennessee and sell it to restaurants and the public, and do I need a wholesale license?
10/14/2026 5:04 AM

Form an LLC before anything else. Moving fresh shrimp and other seafood across state lines involves spoilage, illness and vehicle risks, and the LLC protects your personal assets while showing restaurants that they are dealing with an established company. A foreign owner can hold an LLC, too.

• EIN, for the account, payroll and supplier accounts.
• Seller's permit: it works as your wholesale and resale registration, so you can buy without tax and sell with tax. You may need one wherever you sell.
• Seafood dealer permit: seafood is regulated at each step, including buying, cold storage and delivery, so ask where your product is sourced and sold.
• Business license, locally.

Whether you open a fish market or a restaurant, each needs its own food permits and inspections.
